Okay, Simsonians this is time to sing *Stand up for champions Stand up for champions* :D SIMS debating and literary society (SDLS) has once again made us proud by winning CMH Parliamentary debates finals trophy in an event organised under the flag of CMH Debating Society (CDS). It was a two days event, consisted on three different rounds i.e prelims, semifinals and finals. Sixteen teams participated in CMH Parliamentary Style Debating Championship 2013 and Simsonians grabbed the trophy by beating them all.
Shaherbano Salman, Fatima Iftikhar, Azib Shahid, Daniyal Sami, Waleed Raza and Usama Saeed represented SIMS under supervision of Hafiz Muhammad Wasif, the president of SDLS.
Moreover, Fatima Iftikhar was declared as 2nd best speaker of the tournament out of 48 candidates and this is something simsonians should be really proud of. ''So we thought we'd go there, speak the two prelims, come back home at 2 on Monday, study for our sub-stage and appear in it the next day. Because honestly, we never thought we'd make it so far.
SimSpeaks team congratulates all the candidates and specially the chaperone Hafiz Muhammad Wasif for doing such an amazing job.
The event was well-organized and some of the really talented speakers, of international level, made it a success by their participation.
''CMH is a beautiful medical college and their event was very well-organized, considering the fact that this was the first time they ever hosted parliamentary debates! Although the chicken served in their cafe is made up of plastic, they had a fine ambiance and an awesome tuck shop :D. All in all, it was a great experience and a lot of fun'' says Azib Shahid.
Of course credit for winning the trophy (CMH calls that a trophy :P) goes to whole team SIMS. This victory is just another feather in debating society's cap.
SDLS president gives his views on event by saying,''Being chaperone of SIMS Team at CMH Parliamentary Style Debating Chamionship 2013, breaking into Grand Finale of esteemed Parliamentary Debating Circuit of Pakistan by beating LGS in semi finals & on the very next day , for the first time in the history of SIMS , winning the PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES TEAM TROPHY against international speakers of University Of Lahore are one of the most amazing feelings that i have ,being the President of SIMS Debating & Literary Society (SDLS).

Even though it was really hectic (getting free at 9 at night
on Monday and reporting again at 8 the next morning) and the topics did annoy
the bajesus out of us, we made it to the finals by defeating some of the best
teams in the circuit. And then won the finals too and almost got the best
speaker too.
Also, we have to appear for our substage in the supply now
but I'd say it was totally worth it. So thank you team SIMS (Sherry, Daniyal
bhai, Usama bhai, Waleed and Azib) for making this happen! And thank you Wasif
