When SimSpeaks Admins Meet SQS presidents! - Hira Shaheen And Hassan Nawaz (Batch of '17)

SimSpeaks team intends to set trends by coming up with some crazy ideas and this thought was one of them. We planned to have a brief interview with Quiz society presidents and here it is, featuring our talented speaker and RJ Gauhar Mehmood Azeem, who was president of SQS last year and the current president Safwan Muhammad, both from final year of course. Interviewing them was an amazing experience and SimSpeaks team thanks them for the courtesy they have shown. Lets begin it with a brief introduction of Sims Quiz Society (SQS).

SIMS Quiz Society (SQS) is considered coolest society of SIMS and it is known for setting new trends. Every year inter-class quiz competition is held but last year, under the supervision of Gauhar Mehmood, SQS has arranged SIMS ALL Pakistan Quiz Competition 2012, which has now become first SIMS Olympiad ever held. This year, it will be held in May. Okay, finally, let's come to the questioning session.

(Just to add, Gauhar Mehmood=GM and Safwan Muhammad=SM. We hope both of them forgive us for this :P )

Q1. Brief Story before SIMS.

GM: Well, we both were in GCU, just practical fellows but weren't so friendly. My schooling was at Garrison Academy.

SM: Yeah, we became good friends after coming here and my schooling was at The Trust.


Q2. Any lethal Ragging Experience?

SM: Ahh, Seniors used to take us at IPH and then all kind of thumkaas and I literally proposed 7 seniors!

GM: I was already known by some seniors through orkut. They just came for me and then from the male counterpart of Nargis to Rowdy Boy, all kind of thumkaas and dances, sab kiya tha :D
By the way, I am voraciously in favor of medium level wali ragging. Jo larkiyon k samnay ho :P Hostel wali NOOO! :P (FISTULAS CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR FEELINGS :P )

Q3. Any Prolonged Crush in SIMS ?

GM: This question is going to trouble me actually :p usually my crush never crossed 3 and a half days.

SM: Yeah, mine too. 3 days is the limit, but lets skip it ;)

Q4. Any Hidden fear?
GM: Getting fat and losing my limb in an accident. :-o

SM: Nah, Not really…not now…

GM: Bta dey! :D He fears that she might refuse him :D
SM: Ahh, that’s not a fear… that’s a possibility :p

Q5. Why presidency of SQS only?
GM: Well, in the first two years we had no chance in the society because final year used to rule at that time. We joined it in 3^rd year.

Actually, GCU called me for Medicam All Pakistan Quiz Hosting. I did well, got confidence, became famous. So, it was like First Love wala scene. I wanted to continue it and that’s why I remained associated to SQS.
SM: In 4^th year I left everything else because I was in Q-Bank and wanted to do justice with that. Also, we had attachment with Abdul Majeed Bhai and we had arranged Medicam All Pakistan Quiz in collaboration with GCU so that’s why…

Q6. Have you ever done leg-pulling for grabbing presidency?
(Laughter)

GM: Okay, That’s an accumulative story. In 4^th year we thought we need to do something for presidency and we actually did everything to chuck ex-final year out :D

SM:  But it was for the Greater Good :D

GM: Yeah it was, for something we deserved. We wanted to arrange All Pakistan Quiz under the flag of SIMS for two years, so it was necessary.

Q7. UHS Topper or SQS President ?

(After thinking hard)

GM: ummm, my father would love to have a topper in the house :p but for me, presidency with good marks i.e 65-70 %
SM:…Presidency but with a supply free result, because this is balanced personality.

Q8. One person you want to chuck out of the society?

GM: Why would we take names, Confession ki trha bta detay hain, A tall, dark, handsome guy etc. (Laughs)

(After thinking hard) No one actually.
SM: Yeah, SQS is like a family…For the last 2 years atleast.

Q9. Question to Safwan Muhammed: You are known as the sweetest president, any society has got, How do you manage such sweetness?

GM: He exercises daily in the morning :D

SM: Hah, I am gonna cherish this comment actually! :D Umm, I think being a leader ,if you want to take the best out of the members, you got to be like this.

Q10. One person who has potential of being next president of SQS?
Both: Namra Nadeem 
GM: She has got killer instinct. In first year, I thought she will be the next Gauhar, but now i think she will be the next her. 

Q11. Sweetest member of SQS?
Ali Nawaz and Kaleem. Both are really sweet guys.
  

Q12. To Gauhar Mahmood: SQS, SDLS or Dramatics?
GM: Internal Events:- SQS
        External Events:- SDLS
        Dramatics:- …I bring badluck to my class in Dramatics. If I am acting in the Drama , it flops badly. Even if I am the Spot-boy, the curse continues. I wish I could have done/acted better.

Q13. Any improvement you want to see in SQS?

GM (after thinking hard again :P ) : Nothing Actually. We have done a lot to make it interesting. Converting it into a game show from that boring traditional quiz, was the biggest improvement. Now, many colleges are copying us and it feels amazing.

SM: I want SQS to remain innovative. I mean if, after five years or so, I’m sitting in the audience an ex-president, I want to see something new.

Q14. Approximate Expenditure of an SQS event? And how these funds are arranged?

SM: All Pakistan - More than Rs.100,000

        In inter-class event - Rs.20,000
GM: We take funds for inter-class from college, but for All Pakistan, we tend to arrange sponsors. I mean why we would take more than one lac from sarkari paisa. so we arrange itself and i think its part of our duty.

Q15. Best year in SIMS?

Ans: First year and Final year. Actually, In both these years you feel like a doctor :p

Q16. Faisal Masood or Hamid Mahmood Butt?

Both: Faisal Masood All The Way!

GM: I feel sorry for the first year that you people haven’t met him. We used to come out of his office and say love ho gaya hai yar :p

SM: Yes! But Hamid Butt is very good Masha-Allah. He is trying his best to manage and he ain’t copying or competing. He has his own way of doing things.

Q17. Finally, Anything About SimSpeaks?

SM: Its good to see new comers setting trends. We have put so much effort to make SIMS better and its our hope k juniors b aise hi aen.  The Blog is a very good step.

GM: At first I thought this blog would be like magazine which takes 2 years to get published but I have observed it for the last few days. People are eager to contribute. I think its much better than those confession pages and its positive. People can learn and argue and It will be replacement for magazine. 

SM: Your juniors will be thankful to you. They will know SIMS already. I mean when I came in 1^st year, I was depressed k GCU se kahan aa gaya. But It wont be case now J
